PATIENT RIGHTS

Every patient receiving care at 911 Medical Clinic is entitled to the following rights:

  1. To receive information regarding the rules and regulations applicable at 911 Medical Clinic.
  2. To receive information regarding their rights and responsibilities as a patient.
  3. To receive humane, fair, honest, respectful, and non-discriminatory healthcare services.
  4. To receive quality healthcare services in accordance with professional standards and established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  5. To receive effective and efficient healthcare services, thereby minimising the risk of physical harm and unnecessary financial loss.
  6. To submit complaints regarding the quality of healthcare services received.
  7. To choose their treating physician or dentist, where applicable, in accordance with the services available and the policies of 911 Medical Clinic.
  8. To request a second medical opinion from another licensed medical practitioner, either within or outside 911 Medical Clinic.
  9. To have their privacy respected and the confidentiality of their medical condition and health information protected.
  10. To receive complete and understandable information regarding:
    – their diagnosis;
    – the proposed medical treatment or procedure;
    – the purpose of the treatment or procedure;
    – available alternative treatments;
    – potential risks and complications;
    – the expected prognosis; and
    – the estimated cost of treatment.
  11. To provide informed consent or refuse any proposed medical treatment after receiving adequate explanation from the healthcare provider.
  12. To be accompanied by a family member or designated representative during critical medical situations, where clinically appropriate.
  13. To practise their religion or beliefs during their care, provided such activities do not interfere with the care or rights of other patients.
  14. To receive safe and secure healthcare services throughout their treatment.
  15. To provide suggestions or recommendations for improving the services of 911 Medical Clinic.
  16. To decline spiritual or religious counselling that is inconsistent with their personal religion or beliefs.
  17. To seek legal remedies against 911 Medical Clinic if the patient reasonably believes that healthcare services have not been provided in accordance with applicable professional standards and laws.
  18. To submit complaints regarding healthcare services through appropriate complaint mechanisms, including print or electronic media, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

PATIENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Every patient receiving care at 911 Medical Clinic is responsible for:

  1. Complying with all rules and regulations of 911 Medical Clinic.
  2. Using the Clinic’s facilities responsibly and appropriately.
  3. Respecting the rights of other patients, visitors, healthcare professionals, and all Clinic staff.
  4. Providing truthful, complete, and accurate information regarding their medical condition, to the best of their knowledge and ability.
  5. Providing accurate information regarding their financial responsibility, insurance coverage, or other healthcare benefits.
  6. Following the treatment plan recommended by the attending healthcare professionals and agreed upon after receiving adequate explanation in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  7. Accepting the consequences of any personal decision to refuse recommended treatment or to disregard medical advice provided by healthcare professionals.
  8. Fulfilling all financial obligations for healthcare services received.

PATIENT OBLIGATIONS TOWARDS 911 MEDICAL CLINIC

Patients are expected to:

  1. Provide accurate and complete information regarding their current medical complaints, previous medical history, hospitalisations, medications, allergies, and all other health-related information relevant to their care.
  2. Follow the treatment plan prescribed by the attending physician and implemented by nurses and other healthcare professionals.
  3. Treat all staff members of 911 Medical Clinic, as well as other patients and visitors, with courtesy, dignity, and respect, and refrain from any behaviour that may disrupt the Clinic’s operations or compromise the safety of others.
  4. Respect the privacy of other patients and the property of 911 Medical Clinic.
  5. Refrain from bringing alcohol, unauthorised drugs, illegal substances, or weapons into 911 Medical Clinic.
  6. Respect that 911 Medical Clinic is a smoke-free environment.
  7. Comply with the Clinic’s visiting policies and visiting hours, where applicable.
  8. Leave valuables at home and bring only essential personal belongings while receiving care at 911 Medical Clinic. The Clinic shall not be responsible for loss or damage to personal property.
  9. Ensure that all financial responsibilities related to their care are fulfilled in accordance with the policies of 911 Medical Clinic.
  10. Wear the patient identification wristband provided by the Clinic and not remove it until discharged or instructed otherwise by authorised healthcare personnel.
  11. Accept full responsibility for the consequences of refusing medical treatment or failing to follow medical advice after receiving adequate explanation from the treating healthcare professionals.
